This topic has been addressed before, but it is worthy of repeating as we have our faith challanged at every turn. In the secular world of business, there are always times when we can and should stand up, in word or action, for our faith and beliefs.
Surrounding us in the South are many Christians; Baptist, Church of Christ, Episcopal, and many more. I find there are many opportinities to discuss faith with those in business settings. But sometimes, as you go deeper, doctrinal and theology questions come to the forefront. This can be scary if you don't know how to answer. Even more, dealing with political questions (like the Priest scandals) can be embarassing if you are not ready to explain or defend.
There seems to be a drive for Catholic adult formation in the South. I believe, because of these external challanges, adult Catholics are seeking out ways to learn, or re-learn, the faith. People are taking advantage of programs such as "Why Catholic" here in Nashville and "Echo" in KY where groups are studying the Adult Catechism.
Get into the act. Join a study or fellowship group. Learn your faith and the beauty of Catholicism. In our Diocese of Nashville there are many opportunities to step out. In February Dr. Scott Hahn is returning for the Anne & Monroe Carroll Lecture Series. In March there are the Men"s and Women's conferences being held at St. Philip. Until I attended a conference 3 years ago in Birningham I was ignorant. "You don't know, what you don't know, until you know." (Dr. Scott Hahn) There is much beauty to be learned and adored.
