in the article Jim says that, understandably, most parents want there children's future to be happy, at Fr. Ryan, they want them to be good.
With inner city schools screaming for help every year; and no amount of money the government throws at it fixes the problem. The upheaval can happen in the rural areas too as the world's culture gets closer and closer to our front doors. But in there are places some are seeing the light. In Memphis (I will find the link) Fedex and other corporations gave the Catholic Diocese 30 million dollars to reopen Catholic Schools in inner city neighborhoods. In Green Bay, Wisconsin business leaders teamed up with the Diocese to provide over 150 scholarships to inner city kids for a Catholic Education.
It has been shown it can be done. The gift of a Catholic School education should be accessable to as many children as who's parent's want it for them. The government shouldn't be the teacher of our children. The answer is business. Catholic Professionals need to step up and support opportunities for our children's future to be good.
